GRID-X STEAM Motorsport Challenge 2025 — Highlights
Sri Lanka made history with GRID-X, the nation’s first-ever STEM-based motorsport challenge, orchestrated by JW Networks under the visionary leadership of Jorgina Wijewardana.
Across the island, university and school teams came together to design, build, and race miniature F1-inspired cars, where Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) converged into a thrilling symphony of innovation.
Honoured by the presence of His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe, former President of Sri Lanka, alongside a distinguished panel including Mr. Dilith Jayaweera, Mr. Dudley Sirisena, and leaders from education, innovation, and industry, GRID-X marked a luminous moment in the story of Sri Lankan youth ingenuity.
Students were celebrated not only for speed, but also for creativity, sustainability, innovation, and marketing—proving that motorsport is far more than racing; it is engineering the future.
A special tribute to the Vanguard Racing Team from the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa, who made history by claiming the Fastest Car Award, competing against both state and private universities across the country.
The project was endorsed by Sri Lanka Tourism, with Innovation championed by the National Innovation Agency, and Sustainability guided by TRACE Sri Lanka. Our Educational Partner, Universal College Lanka (UCL), alongside Meu Labs and Enginaro who crafted the track, brought this vision to life. And we extend heartfelt gratitude to all brand partners, judges, and mentors who made this milestone possible.
This is only the beginning. Together, we are driving Sri Lanka toward a horizon where innovation dances with passion.

Thank You
They said it couldn’t be done but we did it.
GRID-X wasn’t just a race; it was proof that Sri Lankan youth can dream, design and dominate when given the chance.
To everyone who believed, thank you.
To those who didn’t, thank you too. You made me push through the doubts.
This is just the beginning.
If we can’t go to the world, we’ll bring the world to us.
-Jorgina Wijewardana
